A “Community Supported Agriculture” (CSA) is a food production and distribution system that directly connects farmers and consumers.  In short: people buy “shares” of a farm’s harvest in advance and then receive a portion of the crops as they’re harvested.

As a part of Growing Home’s CSA, you get to enjoy fresh, organic produce from Chicago’s first and only USDA-Certified High Production Organic Urban Farm in Englewood.  You also are supporting our community-driven mission of providing local healthy food and workforce development to our Englewood community throughout the year. Fresh. Organic. Local.  Mission-Driven.

This year’s CSA will run from June 18 – October 8 (no make up weeks), with options for full share (16 boxes every week) and half share (8 boxes every other week).  Our boxes include a variety of seasonal, fresh organic vegetables, herbs and small produce, all farmed from our Englewood Organic Urban Farm.

We are excited to offer both a Growing Home CSA to customers outside Englewood and an Englewood CSA to Englewood organizations and residents.  Please see purchasing options below.  If you have any questions about our CSA, please see the FAQ below or contact us at csa@growinghomeinc.org.

The Growing Home CSA was the highlight of my year! Fresh organic vegetables every week - and I knew each purchase was also supporting a wonderful organization. You can't get better than that!

The fresh, organic vegetables were the highlight of my week during the pandemic! We tried different vegetables, always great quality, and definitely ate more veggies. It was a win-win.

WHAT TYPE OF FOOD IS IN MY BOXES?

Growing Home Urban Farm grows over 200 varieties of vegetables, herbs – and even some fruit! You’ll receive in your box what is most fresh that week.  The popular produce we have includes: Arugula, Beans, Beets, Bok Choy, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Chard, Chinese Cabbage, Collards, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Heirloom Tomatoes, Herbs, Kale, Lettuce, Mustards, Okra, Onions, Peppers, Potatoes, Radishes, Red and Green Cabbage, Scallions

WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED AS PART OF MY CSA MEMBERSHIP?

Shareholders receive a weekly e-newsletter that highlights what’s inside the box, includes delicious recipes, and gives notes and updates from the farm! Your weekly e-newsletter will arrive by Wednesday of that week to give you enough time to prepare for any other grocery shopping or meal planning you may do for the week.

IF I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS, WHO SHOULD I CONTACT?

Our CSA Coordinator and Farm & Program Associate, Zachary! You can contact him at csa@growinghomeinc.org with any questions or concerns.

YOU SAID MY PURCHASE ALSO SUPPORTS A COMMUNITY-DRIVEN MISSION.  WHAT IS THAT?

Along with being an amazing organic urban farm, Growing Home is a non-profit and social enterprise focused on using urban agriculture as a vehicle for employment training and food security in Englewood.  Growing Home is Chicago’s leading expert in farm-based training for people with employment barriers. We have impacted the lives of hundreds of workers and thousands of their family members by providing paid job experience and holistic job-readiness training at our farms. We also are improving our community’s access to local, healthy food through community programs, our Englewood farm stand and education.  To read more about our organization’s work and impact, please go to growinghomeinc.org/impact.
